on to day 2... chip vacuum at work!

Well day 2 of the main event WPT festa al lago starts today... day 1a went really well for me on monday. starting stack was 45k... and i managed to finish the day with 145,500... i think im prolly about 9th in chips out of the remaining 260 or so players. Its such a deep structured tournament tho so still A LONG way to go. Day 1A was pretty crazy for me... I got to play with some of the best in the world... at my first table was Jennifer Harman (probably the best woman to ever play poker)... i got moved fairly quickly which kind of sucked cuz it was a pretty decent table draw.... but i had taken like 35k off the huge fish at my table so that was nice. I got moved to Antonio Esfandari's table (my favorite player). He's a really nice guy and I have talked to him a bunch of times before. We started playing a prop bet game called "Lodden thinks" which was a ton of fun. You and one guy think up any question that can have a numerical answer to it and then pick one person at the table to think up what THEY THINK the answer is to the question. Then you chinese auction back and forth till u have an over under and then whoever loses pays the winner. Tons of fun... o btw Antonio finished the day with a MASSIVE CHIPLEAD... he has like 313k 2nd has like 205k... gross.

I decided im going to stay in Vegas and play the Caesars Classic which is right after the WPT. Instead of travelling like 18 hours to EPT budapest which is the same time (just for one tourney). Ill be coming home as soon as I bust the Caesars main event. Alright well good luck to me on this day 2... hoping for a good table draw. later guys

2 hours of poker in the past 9 days

So I got home this morning from niagara and toronto and realized that not only have I only played 2 hours of poker in the past 9 days (WPT Niagara day 1 busto 2nd level), but I think its been like 18 days since I played online poker... I think its the longest break from online poker ive taken in almost 3 years. In my few days home 7th-10th and today, I have been basically rammed with trying to answer emails, facebook comments, email interviews, catch up with people on the phone and/or online, do laundry and plan out my next trip, while trying to spend time with family and also my new girlfriend. :)

Im leaving on friday to go to vegas for the WPT at the bellagio... going to play the 5k event on the 18th and then day 1a of the 15k main event on the 20th. If i bust i plan on coming home that night or the next day. Otherwise i will just come home whenever i get knocked out.

Although the WPT in Niagara was kind of a bust, i had a great time on the trip... got to chill with my BOIS dblock, fil, stefan, ozren, sanel, and even got to go to kyle's house for canadian thanksgiving BURRRRRRRRRRPPPPPP!!!! Got to see a raptors preseason game vs Russian team from Moscow which was fun. Lemme explain how i busted the tourney so fast

I played a few pots here and there and was down to about 26k from a starting stack of 30k... there was a dead stack directly on my right for about 2 hours. An older guy with a cowboy hat shows up late and sits down next to me he still has like 28k. He calls a few raises preflop in like the first 6 hands he sees but just mucks to cbets. On around the 7th hand he gets dealt... Utg +1 opens to 600... this old guy is on the button and 3bets to 2500... i am in the small blind with KK now some may say flatting is the best play... i don't like to do this there i think i should have 4 bet smaller than i did and then folded to his shove... i made it 7100 (shoulda made it around 64-6600 i think) and after the initial raise folded... old man insta IM ALL IN! i tanked for around 30 seconds saying o thats so sick i know u have AA aight i call and he tables AA... board runs Q J 8 A 4 and im out. I dont think that guy is ever showing up there with QQ or AK so my call with KK is pretty bad i think... altho its tough with such little info on the guy... i mean a guy who shows up 2 hours late to a 10k event may just not care about money and be willing to gamble it up for 130 bbs with AK or QQ. pretty sick but o well.

going to go play in my bball game 2nite... first time playing in around 2 months God help me... i just hope we have subs cuz i will be sucking wind.

Run like the sun!

So I know I have been doing a terrible job of blogging… lol I got tired of it pretty quickly. I discovered that I’m definitely way too lazy to record or write down a lot of hands while I play a tournament and then put them up on here. So ill try to update this sometimes but I may stop updating it all together, we will see. Right now, I’m in an airplane flying home yay! So im typing this and will save it and post it later. I have to stop in Atlanta though before flying home to Ft Laudy daudy.

As most of yall prolly already know, yesterday turned out to be an absolutely amazing day for me. I had made it to day 2 of the High Rollers EPT London 20k pound buyin tournament. I was 3rd in chips entering the day, and seeing as how there were 14 players left and only 9 got paid, I was hoping to make history and become the 1st player to every claim 2 EPT titles. Well, my dream came true, I managed to outlast, outplay, and outflip the remaining 13 other players and achieve my goal. The final table was amazingly stacked with pros. 4 online whiz kids, if you will, Isaac Haxton, Michael Watson (recent WPT Bellagio cup champ, and Peter Jetten (2nd place in 10k PLO at wsop), and me of course lol. Then the likes of John Juanda, Scotty Nguyen, David Benyamine, and Isabelle Mercier (my sister obv jk jk), and one high roller amateur.

The final table was pretty grueling, I had to be very very patient and pick my spots well. In the previous 2 final tables I had made on this trip, I had been the one pushing the action at the final table trying to put pressure on guys and get involved in big pots. This time around, I kinda wanted to sit back and develop a sort of tight image and just pick my spots carefully. My strategy worked pretty perfectly as I was able to make some fairly light 3 bets when we got down to 3 and 4 handed, and also light opens from utg 5 handed. It was pretty amazing how everything came all together, I almost feel like I don’t deserve it seeing as how my first win was a mere 6 months ago. I’ve accomplished in 6 months what most poker players hope to accomplish in a span of 5 years.

I got very lucky in day 1 of this event as well, sucked out 3 times when I was dominated, twice for my tourney life. What can I say, I’m running hotter than the sun. I feel like it would absolutely foolish of me to not continue playing big events till the end of the year… like I was telling some of you guys, I’m basically freerolling with rakeback and my equity is so high. My next trip is to Niagara falls for the WPT event there, I’m going to be leaving on the 10th. Lol only gonna be home 3 days sick I kno. Ill have time to spend at home when im older right?
This whole trip was pretty amazing, I wish I wouldn’t have been so lazy and woulda actually gone sight seeing a bit, or taken more pictures. But whatever ill be back to Europe soon im sure. Wouldn’t you go back if you shipped 7 figs each trip lol. Aight enough bragging, seriously though, I appreciate all the support from my friends and family who watched the final tables and updates so fervently. You guys are the greatest. It really does inspire me to try and play my best and do well, knowing all of you are watching. Well that’s it for now pe@ce!
